The Broadcastify Live Audio Feed Catalog API lets software applications query Broadcastify's catalog of live audio feeds and access feed metadata, geographic lookups, archive listings, and feed problem reporting. It is one of the Broadcastify developer APIs (Live Audio Feed Catalog, Calls, Calls Ingest / Upload, and Feed Owner), all managed through the Broadcastify Developer Program at bcfy.io/dev.
We are incredibly developer-friendly. Broadcastify has been built on top of a developer ecosystem since day one, and we want third-party applications that genuinely extend what listeners and broadcasters can do to thrive.
Getting access
Access to the Live Audio Feed Catalog is now self-serve. Sign in to the developer portal at bcfy.io/dev/apply/ with your RadioReference.com / Broadcastify.com account and submit an application. Don't have an account yet? Create a free one at Broadcastify.com first, then sign in. Every application is reviewed before access is granted. Tell us what you're building, and once approved you complete setup and start using your key entirely in the portal.
Live Audio Feed Catalog access is a flat $2,500/month subscription, which includes archive access of up to 5,000 archived files per day. After approval you accept the program Terms, add a payment method, and activate the subscription yourself at bcfy.io/dev; no contract negotiation is required for the standard rate. You can manage keys, usage, and billing from the same portal.

What the API is for
The Live Audio Feed Catalog API exists so that radio-related tools and listener-facing utilities can integrate Broadcastify's catalog into their internal dashboards, alerting and monitoring, situational-awareness tooling, research, and AI / transcription pipelines that work with the catalog rather than republishing it.
What the API is not for: no new police scanner apps
We are seeing unprecedented demand for API access driven by AI-assisted developers ("vibe-coding") who use LLMs to spin up applications, sites, and mobile apps that effectively recreate the functionality of Broadcastify itself. We are not licensing any new "police scanner" style applications, free or paid, hobby or commercial, that wrap our live audio catalog into a competing listening experience. The Broadcastify website and the Broadcastify mobile app are the front doors to this catalog. We will not approve developer access for projects whose purpose is to build a parallel front door on top of our live audio, and applying through the portal does not change that. No "police scanner" apps.
Likewise, applications designed to redistribute, mirror, scrape, or resell Broadcastify live audio or metadata, in any form, are not candidates for access. Public redistribution of live audio is prohibited under the program Terms (ยง4.B), and confirmed violations result in termination.
This restriction applies to live audio only. Recorded clips, segments, and archives are made available under the applicable Creative Commons license and may be downloaded, used, and redistributed in accordance with that license.
AI, commercial, and enterprise use
AI and machine-learning use cases are welcome under the Developer Program. Private transcription, AI / LLM projects, research, internal dashboards, alerting, and back-end infrastructure are all legitimate, supported uses. Apply through the portal, accept the Terms, and you're good to go. The line we hold is not "is it AI"; it is no consumer-facing scanner apps and no public redistribution of live audio.
The standard rate is $2,500/month flat, but it is not the only option: a custom monthly rate can be arranged for a defined regional subset, enterprise needs, or strategic-partner arrangements, in place of the standard flat rate. If your use case needs custom terms, higher volumes, or a negotiated rate, note it in your application or write to support@broadcastify.com. Partner and node-provider arrangements may qualify for discounted pricing.
Applying: be specific
The portal application asks you to describe what you're building. The more specific you are, the faster we can approve. Helpful detail includes:
- Exactly what the application does, what users it is for, and how each user reaches it
- What Broadcastify data the application needs and why it cannot be served by the public site or mobile app
- Whether it integrates with a radio, scanner, scanner programmer, or other radio-related hardware/software
- For commercial use: company name, projected user count, business model, and your expected volume
- For AI/ML use: training versus inference, dataset retention policy, model distribution, and projected query volume
Applications that boil down to "because I want to," or that read as a pasted LLM prompt with no specific use case, will be declined, and we'll tell you why and, where appropriate, point you toward a better-scoped request or the licensing path. We're happy to support developers who are extending what listeners and broadcasters can do, and we're open to commercial conversations for everything else. Apply at bcfy.io/dev/apply/; for questions, write to support@broadcastify.com.
